Episode 58: Holiday Biohacks to Prevent Weight Gain

All right, welcome to Health Hunters Radio. Oh, the holidays are here. And today’s show and the next show is going to be giving you key bio-hacks to not gain weight during the holidays. As a matter of fact, I bet you if you listen to the next two shows you will actually lose weight during the holidays. Here is the best news of all: I am not going to tell you not to eat the pumpkin pie or I don’t know what goes on, the special cookies, but I am going to give you another solution. Because you know what? I know you all are going to do it, right? I even do a little bit of it myself. Now, I do make better choices but …
Today’s bio-hack is a very, very, very important part and a surprising part of why people not only gain weight during the holidays but come out of the holidays feeling like crap. Yep, exactly, it’ll affect your sleep, it’ll affect your relationships, it’s going to affect every aspect of your life. Unknowingly this goes on.
All right, so what’s the bio-hack? Let’s just get right to it. It is cellular detox. Yeah, my specialty, right? Trained doctors all over the world about this. But wait a minute, we don’t think about this as being a key thing to not gain weight during the holidays and come out of the holidays feeling like crap. Well look, in fact it is. I am going to have to take you back to something that I teach and preach of how toxins, especially around the holidays because we’re eating foods, we’re stepping outside of our normal life and we’re taking in foods, yeah, more carbohydrates, more sugar.
The problem is those foods that you’re going to be eating are loaded with toxins. And today, it’s a different game than old, all right? Our parents, even we as kids, I say we, I’m in my 50s, you all in your that are 40s listening, so we as kids, even 30-year-olds, we weren’t exposed to the type of toxins that we are being exposed to today.
All right, in food there is one toxin I’ve done shows on but it is such a dangerous toxin that actually increases the absorption, the bioaccumulation in your nerves, in your brain, in your cells, of all the other toxins. There’s studies that show it all the way back from 2012 and then there’s been more. As a matter of fact, the senior scientist at MIT showed that this chemical that’s in the majority of our food, in particular the foods that we’re going to be ingesting more of during the holidays, this one chemical increases things like heavy metals to cross the blood-brain barrier and the gut barrier and our cells and disrupt hormones, disrupt your whole entire endocrine system. That’s your hormone system which, by the way, is really the reason why people gain weight, why they lack energy, why they have brain fog, why they don’t sleep as well, when they do sleep they don’t get into a deep sleep, they wake up and feel like they didn’t sleep.
These neurotoxins are the big causative factor. And this one chemical that’s being sprayed on all of our food, and to some degree it’s a little bit in organic food but not nearly like it is. But see, here’s the problem, you’re not going to be eating all organic food during the holidays. You’re going to be going out to dinner, company parties, right? Even those of us who focus on eating all organic, we’re going to be exposed to all of these things that have massive levels of this chemical. And the chemical is glyphosate.
And I’m going to talk about … There’s other chemicals that you’re going to take in increased amounts during the holidays. But if we just focused on this, the studies are massive. I mean that’s why there’s such an uproar about the increase in this chemical in our environment. But more importantly, I’m not as worried about our environment. I know it’s a big political pull, but I’m worried about our bodies, us, our children. Because this chemical alone is causing increases in cancer in children and adults, increases in endocrine dysfunction, again that’s your hormone dysfunction. This chemical is linked to many, many diseases, including weight gain. Even emotional health. So we have to consider this this holiday.
So cellular detox is in fact the answer. I’m not going to even bother you in saying minimize those foods that you eat, but on next week’s show I’m going to talk about some dietary strategies, I am, where you are able to eat those foods and still in fact enjoy your holidays and feel good and not gain weight. But if you do all that and you don’t focus on this chemical and the other ones that you are exposed to, you’re going to gain weight and you’re going to wonder why. And again, you’re going to end up with the digestive issues which is going to lead to more hormone problems and more problems with your sleep, more problems with just feeling like garbage.
So the key is in fact this cellular detox that I teach. I want to simplify it for you, I want everybody to be able to partake in this. Some of you have health challenges, yeah. You need to hire myself or one of my coaches if you do. If you have autoimmune, all of these different types of conditions, maybe diabetes, thyroid conditions, yeah, you need a coach because the cellular detox no doubt is very specific, it’s different for everybody that are challenged, the dosing, the cycle lengths, I’ll explain all this, how long you’re staying on these detox supplements, how long you take off. All of it. Even different binders and chelators that people would use are different for everybody, especially when you’re challenged.
But today’s show I want to focus on basically what everybody can do. But again, those of you with more challenges, you can go to my website drpompa.com. But let’s talk about this cellular detox. I think, look, it’s very en vogue right now that detox is key to regulating your hormones. People are understanding that now. Five years ago, three years ago people didn’t get that, now they are. And what it’s done is now that they’re linking detox to how you can lose weight, why weight loss stops …
And by the way, one of the simplest things that you all can understand is when you start burning fat cells, and that’s where most of the toxins are, is in your fat cells, and when you start burning those fat cells what happens is the toxins are actually released and then they make their way, they redistribute in your body, they attack to other cells and they blunt the receptors to hormones that you need to burn fat for energy to feel good. Thyroid hormone is an example, insulin is another example. Those are two very important hormones that we need to be fat burners and not gain weight and be able to lose weight. So those toxins come out of the fat and then they make their way to other cells, they make their way onto the membranes where the hormone receptors are, and it stops your weight loss and it increases your fat storage. Not good.
All right, I’m going to dive a little bit in deeper because I may have lost some of you right there. But I want you to understand that concept, but I want you to understand the right way to detox because everyone understands detox is key, but they’re not doing it the right way. When we get back we’re going to learn how to do it right.
All right, welcome back to Health Hunters Radio. Hey, holiday show here. This one is about how not gain weight. You may even in fact lose weight if you do it the right way. We’re going to be talking about that the next couple of weeks, how to bio-hack your holidays for weight loss, definitely not weight gain.
And today we’re talking about toxins that you are going to be exposed to during the holidays that are going to drive weight gain even more so than the sugar, believe it or not, that you’re eating. Yeah, the carbohydrates and all that stuff, no doubt if you increase them you may [inaudible 00:15:16] gain weight, but this hidden source of toxins and the one that we’ve been talking about and focusing on is glyphosate because it increases the absorption of all of these neurotoxins that can drive weight gain.
And how does it I was discussing, is these toxins make their way to your membranes of your cell. And on every cell membrane are receptors to hormones. Let me just give you one example. Insulin, type 2 diabetes they call insulin resistance. What that means is the cell can’t hear insulin. Really what it means is there’s a receptor on your cell that insulin docks on and then it allows glucose to enter into the cell and it works and then we have normal glucose levels. When insulin docks to that receptor but the receptor is blocked, inflammation driven by toxins on the cell membrane block that communication between that hormone insulin and your cell, now what happens is you can’t heart the message from insulin therefore glucose doesn’t go into the cell and it builds up in the blood. We call that type 2 diabetes or insulin resistance.
So guess what? Hormone resistance is the real reason why people are stuck and basically not able to lose weight and become an efficient fat burner. And despite their dietary changes they start gaining weight and they’re going, “Wait a minute. I’m eating better, why did you just lose 5, 10 pounds and stop or not lose any weight at all?” That is hormone resistance driven typically by toxins that make their way to the cell membrane, blunting there hormone receptors. So guess what? It doesn’t matter if you’re taking bioidentical hormones or this hormone or that hormone, the cell can’t hear it. It’s like when we’re shouting at our kids. It doesn’t matter if you’re shouting loud, like taking hormones, the kids stopped listening to you just like the cells.
So what’s the answer? Cellular detox. We have to remove the toxins from the cells, and that’s the process I call cellular detox. And my goal for this show is just to give you some real easy pointers today on what you can do during the holidays, how you can participate in the cellular detox, and not gain weight.
Look, it works. And I even mentioned that many of you after the holidays will start to say, “Okay, I’m going to cut back,” and you’ll start to lose a little bit of weight and it stops and then you start gaining weight again even though you’re eating better. It’s because when you start burning the fat it releases more toxins and the toxins make their way to more cells and they blunt the hormone receptors. And again, the reason why you don’t feel well, can’t lose weight, it’s a hormone issue.
Okay, I’ve beat that point to that but I have to say it three different ways for everyone to really get it. This is the key. Hormones, taking more, sometimes it’s necessary, however it’s not upstream enough to the causative factor and that is the toxins.
So this chemical glyphosate, it’s the number one chemical in an herbicide that’s called Roundup. It’s used on every conventional plant, in particular grains. And yes, they use it to keep the bad guys out in the herb, the weeds and the pest and such, because it’s an herbicide/pesticide. So they use it while they are growing the plant. But here’s the other problem with grains, which you are eating a lot of whether it’s oatmeal cookies, whether it’s wheat flour, flours in particular, rice flours, whatever it is, these conventional grains are being sprayed with this chemical after they harvest it. It’s called desiccation, which they spray it on it to actually dehydrate it. They spray it on it right before they harvest it even to make the harvest easier. And there’s many reasons because it actually increases their harvest.
So a lot of financial reasons to why they spray this chemical. Brilliant of the chemical company Monsanto who developed it because, hey, if we can get them spraying it on while it’s growing and then while they’re harvesting it and cause this little dehydration that they call desiccation, increase harvest, increase profits, increase ease of harvest, oh man, I mean this is brilliant stuff. The problem is we’re being exposed to levels of this chemical like never before, especially in the foods that we’re going to be exposed to these holidays.
So that’s why I just focused on one chemical. There’s other pesticides, there’s other things that are in increased number. There’s even evidently the increase of the amount of plastic, BPA and other endocrine disruptors, xenoestrogens, these are things that mimic estrogen. By the way, a lot of these other pesticides are xenoestrogens, they mimic hormones in your body. So there is a lot of other chemicals that evidently we are exposed to at much higher levels during the holidays. But if we just focus on one and not confuse people I think it’s better.
So the point I was making earlier though is people are getting aware of the fact that these chemicals are causing weight loss resistance and weight gain, thyroid issues, diabetes. I mean there is more and more studies showing the link of these chemicals with these endocrine disorders. And again, before you’re diagnosed with a thyroid condition or diabetes, the weight gain starts, the weight loss resistance starts happening, fat around the waist, the thighs, I mean the process starts. And then the energy gets lower because your cells can’t use fat when it’s not eating and the cravings get ridiculously hard.
And by the way, all of that is not your fault because it is driven by hormones, meaning that the reason you fail on diets … And the reason you fail on diets, that’s not the reason why you can’t lose weight, it’s the hormone problem that’s going on. You see, what happens is when your cells can only use two things for energy: sugar or fat, and when this hormone resistance takes place driven by toxins, now your cells can’t hear the hormones needed to burn your own stored fat as energy. So what does it do? It’s relying on sugar because it can only use fat or sugar for energy. So now you’re stuck as a sugar burner with the inability hormonally to use your fat for energy.
So therefore when you’re not eating your body normally would burn fat, your stored fat, that’s why it’s there. And so when I’m not eating my body is eating my fat and I stay lean. So I can go a day without food and I really don’t get hungry, my body is feeding from itself. I might get hungry around the big meal time, but my body efficiently uses its fat. I’m going to tell you what to do when we get back on Health Hunters Radio.
Welcome back to Health Hunters Radio. We’re doing the holiday bio-hacks, not to gain weight during the holidays. As a matter of fact, we want you to actually come out better. And today’s topic is cellular detox as the bio-hack to the key to not gaining weight during the holidays. And we’re focusing on a chemical called glyphosate that’s sprayed on our foods and how that interacts with our cells. It actually causes us to be even more toxic with other chemicals. And this chemical is nasty.
But what I was explaining in the last break was the fact that our cells can’t hear the hormones and it gets locked as a sugar burner, and this makes it not your fault of why you can’t hold the diet. So what’s normally meant to happen is when we’re not eating our body hears the hormones and it directs the cells to start using its fat for energy and we actually get leaner. But what happens is when you can’t hear the hormones, now it just burns glucose so we’re stuck as a sugar burner.
So when you’re not eating, guess what it does? It has two choices. It either breaks your muscle down into sugar because it can’t use fat but it can take muscle through a process called gluconeogenesis, break it down into sugar. Now look, your body wants to survive, it really doesn’t want to do that. So guess what it does? It gives you a craving that you can’t resist. Yeah, that’s what it does. So that’s what I mean by it’s not your fault. You’re eventually going to fail. You’re eventually going to crave the sugar, the carbohydrates, the pasta, the bread, cookies, whatever it is, and feed the cell because it wants to live.
So again, the answer isn’t being more disciplined, the answer is get your hormones right and then all of a sudden it’s like, “Yeah, it’s pretty easy not to eat. It’s pretty easy to eat the right things. I’m not craving the bread.” So ultimately the answer lies in the cell, ultimately the answer lies in cellular detox. My saying, “If you want to get well, you have to fix the cell.” And more specifically, you have to detox the cell.
And that really is it. So we have to really dial into the cell. And as I was saying, I mean people are understanding this concept that toxins are related to weight gain and hormone issues. And so what we have is shelves of detox products in every store, at least health food stores that is. And when you look at them though, I constantly go over and look at them, I even take pictures of them, they’re mostly poopers. These detox are meant to help you go to the bathroom more, which maybe not a bad thing for some of you, but it’s not approaching the cell. They don’t have real binders in them, binders that have the ability to grab onto this toxin like glyphosate or heavy metals, some of these really nasty guys that are really responsible for this hormone disruption that I was describing here and the weight gain. So these products are en vogue, but it’s not the real deal.
All right, so what is the real deal? Look, there is three things that I describe and what real detox is which I call true cellular detox. And number one, we have to upregulate certain cell functions. I’m not going to bore you with the science, but I have my five Rs of how we do that. But I’m going to give you one product that does most of that and upregulates cell function. And the reason that’s important is because that is the problem, is the cells slow down its own ability to get rid of the toxins and what happens is they build up in the cell and now your cell function is getting worse and worse, your hormone resistance more and more, and therefore weight gain more and more.
So we have to … The real detox is upregulating the cell function. What it was designed to do on a daily basis is get rid of toxins. But when we’re hit with too many, too fast, which is going to happen during the holidays, the cell function slows down, the cell detox slows down, and now you have problems on problems on problems. And so the cell that’s naturally supposed to be getting rid of toxins is not.
By the way, even when your cell makes energy so you feel normal, it makes a toxin. It’s like burning a fire, there’s a some that comes off, right? We have to have chimneys to get rid of it just so we can enjoy the energy of the fire. Well, if you want to enjoy your energy you have to burn glucose or fat, as I explained, in the cell and make energy. But no matter what, it gives off smoke, it gives off waste. But your cell is designed to get rid of that like a chimney. But did you ever leave your damper open, or closed I should say, when you started a fire? What happens? The smoke pours in your house. Okay, that’s happening during the holidays, the smoke is staying in the cells. So we call that endogenous toxins. Your own cell making energy is not getting the toxins out. That’s a problem. And then of course we’re accumulating more toxins, so it’s a catch-22. So if we don’t upregulate cell function we’re dead in the water. Okay, that’s one.
Number two is we need a binder or a chelator that’s able to get into the cell membranes. Remember, that’s where toxins are that are causing the hormone dysfunction. And we need one that grabs onto these nasty toxins and doesn’t let go and takes them all the way out of the body. So that is an important part of what real detox is. And again, when you go to the grocery store and you look at these products and the ingredients they have, they don’t have a binder like that. Well, it would be far too complicated, it would be far too … Because these are real binders, they have to be used correctly, and you’re not going to see that any of those products.
Thirdly, I said there is three things, we have to make sure we don’t reabsorb the toxins. So let me explain. So when you use this real binder or chelator taking the toxins from the cell and the cell membranes, and the next gate, so to speak, is your liver. The problem is many of the toxins, they end up being bound up in the liver in a place called bile, because bile is a fatty compound that we actually utilize to digest fat. But it holds the toxins. It’s called hepatic biliary sludge, hepatic meaning liver, biliary meaning bile, sludge meaning toxic waste. So again, a healthy body not being exposed to a lot of toxins get rids of it. But it bounds to this bile. You eat fat, which you’re going to be doing during the holidays, you dump the fat into the gut, it brings the toxins with it.
Here is the problem: your body is designed to reabsorb the bile so it can use it again. It brings the toxins back around. We call that autointoxication. And that means you’re just retoxifying. Your cells aren’t getting rid of it, that’s toxifying, it’s bound up in your liver, you’re going round and round bringing toxins back into your body, redistributing them, they end up in more cells, blunting more hormone receptors. Do you see the problem? All this during the holidays is going to happen at a much higher level.
So here we go. There is a product in the cell that we use that I developed years ago and is now, oh my gosh, how many generations? Maybe the fourth generation, and it even has … I was just at a meeting last week with the chemists and the scientists around the product, and they have made so many advancements with what’s in the product just because they are new things discovered and we keep changing and making the product better. But the product is called GCEL. It raises the intracellular, meaning in the cell, glutathione, and that’s the main basically function of the cell that gets rid of toxins. But there’s a lot of other components in there that help the inflammation of the cell membranes which causes the hormone resistance. So GCEL is part of this process that we want to take. Okay, there’s another product and it’s called CytoDetox. This product’s job, it’s the one that enters into the cell, it enters into the membranes. It’s the vehicle, the binder that grabs onto the toxins as we upregulate cell function. All right, welcome back to Health Hunters Radio. I gave you two of the cellular detox products that I feel you need over the holidays. Let me give you the third.
So I said there was three things that really where true detox lies, where really how you do this true cellular detox. And the first one was upregulating the cell function which is this natural function that shuts down, especially when we’re exposed to so many of the types of toxins that we will be over the holidays. We have to upregulate that natural detox function. GCEL was the answer there. And we need a vehicle. When we upregulate that cell function, toxins start mobilizing, we better have something that grabs them and pulls them all the way out of the body. That’s the CytoDetox. And by the way, when you start losing weight and start losing and burning fat, you’re going to release toxins. We need this CytoDetox in the cells and around the cells. And I’ll explain more about that product after I get through all three here, because it’s an extraordinary product that, again, as GCEL was four generations, we are on two generations of CytoDetox, and that product brings it out to the body.
But then I mentioned another problem, that the toxins can bind up to the bile and the liver and you autointoxicate, they just go round and round. So the product to stop that problem is BIND, B-I-N-D. It is a product that just sits in the gut. It doesn’t leave the gut. But what happens is when you dump that hepatic biliary sludge, that toxic bile, it sits in there as a catcher’s mitt, grabs it and pulls it our through your stool so you don’t autointoxicate.
So it’s a three-part system. Look, I developed this years ago. It’s the core. All of our doctors utilize this as a core. Now again, I mentioned earlier those with greater health challenges, there’s a lot more to it. You may need more liver support, you may need more lymphatic support, you may need more kidney support, you may … I mean there’s many things. You may need some different binders, etc.
But this is something that I want all of you to do, and I’m going to tell you how to do it. So this process we’ve been using for, gosh, I mean since … Really I mean it was a process I developed in myself when I was getting myself [inaudible 00:44:06], but I’ve been teaching it since 2005, in seminars since 2008. And it’s advanced and the products have gotten better, we’ve gotten better, and it’s a product that works. It’s being taught not just by me now, it’s being taught all over the world, and it’s real detox, folks. That’s why I call it true cellular detox. So real detox has to happen at the cell. These are sayings that I’ve coined over the years.
And again, I think it’s frustrating for me because I watch people come back from their alternative doctors and whatever practitioner and they say, “Oh yeah, he put me on this detox.” And I look at the ingredients in it and I cringe. No concept of what cellular detox really is or no concept of how to bind it so you don’t reabsorb and autointoxicate. So most of which I love to give the analogy, it’s like the street cleaners going down the street and a big plume of dust and debris above it redistributing it all over the cars and the street. But it sure does look good, “Wow, yeah, it’s really cleaning the street.” It even leaves a wet little path behind it which after half an hour looks dirty again.
But yeah, I mean so this is what most people are calling detox, and it’s disturbing, it really is. It’s because the science around this has advanced so much but yet so little is being taught about this process that is just proven with our doctors over the years. And that’s why I teach seminars, folks, I’m trying to get more and more doctors doing this process. But what I just taught you is the core of the process.
Now look, all detox in nature should be cycled on and off, on and off, just like a woman’s detox cycle, right? Her period, menstruation is meant to be cycled. And when you look in nature, even how nature cleans itself, it’s cycled. However, my advice to you for the process, the two weeks perhaps, maybe a month for some of you, of your increased parties and increased food intake, whatever that is, I would stay on these three products. But then after that I would cycle them.
Maybe you do … I’ll give you two choices, just not to overcomplicate this. You could do three days on, four days off. That’s a nice even week cycle. So maybe do it Friday, Saturday, Sunday on, and then the rest of the days off. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on all three of those products, and then four days off all of those products. Or you could do week on, week off. So seven days on all of these products, seven days off all of these products.
So let’s just give you just some average dosing. Let’s start it with the GCEL because I started there. For those of you who are more sensitive, perhaps smaller, one pill twice a day with or without food. The average dose is two pills twice a day, that’s the product that upregulates the intracellular glutathione. Those of you who are bigger or can handle more, you can do three pills twice a day. That’s what I do. I’m detoxing right now, by the way. I’m preparing for the holidays, cleaning my house, emptying my bucket so to speak. Doing too much traveling, I’m going to be exposed to more. The sooner you start this, folks, the better. And carry it on after the holidays as well. So you want to do a few of these cycles. But as I said, if you want to stay on two weeks, even a month, stay on, go ahead, I’m all for it, but then cycle it after that. So just kind of making that point one more time. Okay, so that’s the GCEL. And again, all of these products are taken in the on cycle, if you will, if you’re cycling.
CytoDetox. All right, so very small people 0.25 milliliters. It’s a liquid and there’s a dropper and it’s measured 0.25, 0.5, 1 milliliter. The standard dose would be one milliliter two times a day. I just keep it by my bed, morning and then before bed. And probably the half dose would be 0.5, so very small people 0.25, sensitive people 0.5 milliliters twice a day, and regular dose is one milliliter which is a full dropper twice a day, morning and night. And again, that would be part of the cycle. If you’re doing three days on you take it for three days, take four days off, and that if you’re taking it for seven days, take seven days off. And if you’re staying on it for two weeks or a month on everything because you’re that toxic and you want the help, go right ahead, but then cycle it after that.
Okay, the third product is BIND. We like to take BIND at night right before bed. So it’s typically dosed two to four pills before bed. Can some of you take six? Yeah, if you’re constipated go ahead because it’ll move the bowels. It’s the one that stays in the gut and moves things out of the gut. But two to four before bed. Some people like to take two before bed and then two first thing in the morning. Just don’t take anything with BIND, medication, especially it has to be taken at least two hours away, other supplements about an hour away from BIND, because it’ll bind it. And the BIND is best away from food as well. CytoDetox is best at least 30 minutes away from food. GCEL doesn’t matter. [inaudible 00:49:53] we’ll probably get that question. And again, BIND is cycled in with all three products, right? Three on four off, seven on seven off, or staying on it two weeks or a month if you desire through the holidays and then cycle after that.
So okay, and it’s important to stay on these even after the holidays, especially after you hear my diet tips next week, because the weight will start coming off, fat burning will start increasing. You need these things to catch the toxins so you don’t autointoxicate and so you don’t make your cells more resistant to hormones and gain more weight as you lose weight. So that doesn’t make sense, folks.
Anyways, so we want the BIND … Now let me give you a little trick with BIND. Let’s say you eat something naughty, you know you did. I like to take BIND like maybe 30 minutes after the meal. Or if you know you’re going to eat something bad, take it 30 minutes before the meal. We take it away from food because it could bind up some minerals and some of the fatty nutrients as well. So it’s not good to do that all the time, but man, it works.
Oh, here’s another clue. Let’s say you’re going to drink wine or whatever you’re going to do at your office party or any party, for that matter, then you want to do this. Take the BIND 30 minutes before the party, it’s magic. And then when you get home, take a few more. It does, it really makes the difference with the alcohol. And take a little more that night too.
